Unscripted Sketches #79

It's Saturday! That means it's time for another Unscripted Sketch! We've got a very versatile sketch for you this week that can be used for cards or even a scrapbook layout!

If you are just finding out about Unscripted Sketches, every Saturday morning we post a sketch for the week. Flip it, Rotate it… create a card, scrapbook page or other project with our sketch. There is no right or wrong way, as long as you are using the Unscripted Sketch as the basis of your creation!

Because we don't have little ones yet, we're not that into Halloween, so I'm already in Thanksgiving mode. Our Thanksgivings are pretty low-key; just a small dinner for my husband & me. Our extended families aren't nearby, so we celebrate as a couple!

For my card, I used some Lawn Fawn stamps from the "Harvest Season" set. I colored the cornucopia and leaves with some Copics that I borrowed from my friend Sparkle at our last stamping session! The papers I used are from Cosmo Cricket's "Matilda" collection...even though they are technically Halloween papers, I like the way they look with these stamps!

Thanks for stopping by to look at my card...wishing you a great weekend and a Happy Halloween! I can't wait to see how you're inspired by this week's Unscripted Sketch!

Moxie Fab World: Diggin' on Damask Challenge!

I got so inspired by all the damask loveliness over at Moxie Fab World that I decided to make a card to enter in the Diggin' on Damask challenge! There's still time to play along...the contest runs until midnight on Monday, November 8!

Cath has assembled lots of beautiful examples of damask patterns used in bags, notecards, even light switch plates and more! Check it out! This is one of my favorite images, some note cards from InkspotWorkshop:

My card features some paper from Basic Grey's Eskimo Kisses collection.

I took the damask theme a few steps further by embossing some Tim Holtz grungeboard and inking it with several different colors to make my Christmas tree. Each of the chipboard "ornaments" is inked and stamped with a subtle damask pattern. I even stamped the star with a different damask stamp!

So what are you waiting for?

Get creative and post your entry to the Diggin' on Damask challenge in the Moxie Fab World!

Thanks for stopping by!

Stampin' Celebration #26: Candy is Dandy!

This week's Stampin' Celebration Challenge features some sweet inspiration:

I used the lollipops and bright colors as the inspiration for my card:

Supplies: Paper (Bo Bunny Sun Kissed), Image stamp (Imaginisce), Sentiment stamp: (memory box), Cardstock & Ink (Stampin' Up!), Other: ribbon, clear glaze pen, white opaque pen.

Thanks for looking at my card!

I hope you have a Happy Halloween and a sweet stampy weekend! The ladies at Stampin' Celebration have some eye candy of their own to show you! Don't forget to check them out too!

colourQ #56

This week's colourQ challenge colors stumped me at first, but I made them work for me with a cute snowman stamp that I thought I'd lost!

Here's this week's set of colors:

The colors made me think of a festive striped scarf, so I took that approach with my card background. I stamped the snowman three times, and colored in the hat and scarf on each with a different challenge color. Since the sentiment stamp didn't have the extra word I wanted, I used some letter stickers to complete it!

I've been hunting for the snowman stamp for about a week because I wanted to use it on another card...I eventually found it in the pocket of a bag I took to my monthly cardmaking group! So glad I found it!

Supplies: Cardstock (Stampin' Up!), Stamps (Imaginisce), Embossing Folder (Sizzix), Ink (Stampin' Up!), Other: Markers, Stickles, Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type stickers, white dimensional gel pen.

Thanks for stopping by to look at my card!

There's still time to play along with this week's colourQ challenge!

Moxie Fab World: Sweater Weather (Tuesday Trigger)

Even if you can't feel a chill in the air just yet, this week's Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab World will have you thinking of cooler weather:

The inspirational elements I took from this photo for my card are the colors, the yarn and the subtle pattern in the sweater...

I embossed some kraft cardstock for my base and thought this was the perfect card to use my little yarn/knitting stamp that I've been holding on to; it's from Lockhart Stamps. I colored the balls of yarn to match the trigger colors. I created the sentiment using the Harold's ABC's set by Lawn Fawn Stamps.

Thanks for visiting!

There's still time to play along with this Moxie Fab challenge...you have until Sunday, October 31 to post your project!

Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps Challenge #16

This is my first time participating in a Sparkle Creations challenge, because I didn't have any of the stamps until now!

This week's challenge is inspired by some pretty red and white snowflake-y bedding:

So I carried that theme over to my card, which features Sparkle Creations' Sledding Chloe!

Supplies: Cardstock (Stampin' Up!), Paper (October Afternoon - Very Merry), Snowflake crystals (Imaginisce), Sentiment stamp (Studio G), Ink (Stampin' Up! & AMuse), Other (Stickles)

I colored her in with colored pencils, permanent markers, and gel pens. Hopefully, if I'm good, Santa will bring me some Copics so I can up my coloring skills!

Thanks for stopping by to look at my card!

There's still time to participate in this Sparkle Creations challenge...the deadline is Sunday, October 31 at 9PM Pacific Time.  In order to qualify for a prize, you must use a Sparkle Creations image on your creation.

CPS #190

For this week's Card Positioning Systems (CPS) sketch challenge, I made a Thanksgiving card! It's very easy to work with this sketch -- I added my sentiment in the open area in the middle, and used the block at the lower right for my main image.

Here's the sketch:

and here's my card!

Supplies: Paper (Basic Grey's Pyrus, Pink Paislee's Cupid & Cosmo Cricket's Nutmeg), Stamps (Lawn Fawn's Harvest Season), Ribbon & Ink (Stampin' Up!), Markers (Copic)

Thanks for visiting!

There's still time to play along with CPS sketch #190...this week's drawing is sponsored by Taylored Expressions!

Get Sketchy #61

It took me a while to figure out what design I'd use for this week's Get Sketchy challenge, but luckily, I had some paper that worked out great!

Here's the sketch:

and here's my card! I used papers from Cosmo Cricket's Pixielicious collection and a stamp from Imaginisce.

The flowers are from my stash, and the rub-on sentiment I used is by Pebbles. I colored the fox with colored pencils and markers.

Thanks for taking time to look at my card!
You can visit Get Sketchy to see the design team's creations, to play along and to check out the other entries! This week's challenge is sponsored by Paper Maniac!

Unscripted Sketches #78

It's Saturday, and that means it's time for another Unscripted Sketch! Thanks to all who participated in last weekend's Unscripted Sketches Breast Cancer Awareness Month Blog Hop, and thanks to all who left comments here and on the other designers' blogs! You all helped to make it fun!

Here's our sketch for this week:

I used some beautiful fall papers and stamps from Basic Grey's Pyrus collection for my card. I also rotated the sketch:

Since I make way more cards than scrapbook pages these days, I'm really into mini paper pads! I find they help with getting inspired, and since the paper's already coordinated, it helps to pick out matching designs.

Thanks for visiting! Don't forget to visit the rest of the Unscripted Design Team: Alanna, Angy, April, Arielle, Becky, CherylAnn, Debbie, Gardenia, Jenny, Lelia, Linda, Marcy, Sarah Kaye and Stephanie!

I can't wait to see what you'll create with this week's Unscripted Sketch!

Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger: Memento Mori

For this week's Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger, I used the shape of the tombstone in the trigger photo to inspire me when I made my card:

I turned that shape into a window on my card, and the gravestone image reminded me of ornate designs that are sometimes carved into tombstones and are often found in the woodwork inside old churches.

The knight and princess stamp is one of the first that I bought when I started stamping; it's from Elzybells Art Stamps. The knight reminds me of my husband, who actually has his own suit of armor! I wrote about it in this earlier post. Scott is usually the first person to see my cards, and is the inspiration for many of them!

I used paper from Webster's Pages for the outside of the card, and embossed a strip of cardstock for the top. I glued a fleur-de-lis brad top to a button to make the gate fold's closure.

Here is a picture of the inside (you can click on the picture to make it bigger):

Thanks for looking at my card!

SCIC #25

There's more spooky Halloween inspiration over at Stampin' Celebration this week!:

Here's my take! I was inspired by the color scheme, and also the bats...
I love these cute bat stamps from Lawn Fawn! I also used Lawn Fawn's Harold's ABC's set to spell and stamp my sentiment.

I used SU cardstock and paper from Cosmo Cricket and Three Bugs in a Rug for my card.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you're inspired to play along with Stampin' Celebration this week! Happy Haunting (and stamping)!

Color Throwdown #115

but I managed to come up with a cute card!

I've had this candy stamp from Imaginisce for a while, but never used it. I thought the colors would work well with it...it's kind of Halloweeny but it doesn't have to be. The patterned paper is from Cosmo Cricket's Pixielicious. The rest is SU cardstock in the challenge colors. The sentiment stamp is by Savvy Stamps. I embossed the card with a Sizzix folder and made the border strip with a Martha Stewart punch.

Thanks for looking at my card! There's lots more to see over at the Color Throwdown! Check it out!

Caardvarks: Inside and Out!

The latest Caardvarks challenge is to create a new stamped card that is decorated inside and out! The prizes for this challenge are being sponsored by Penny Black...the top 3 cards will get some totally cute stamps! For the challenge rules and to see pictures of the stamps up for grabs, visit the Caardvarks blog!

Here are the inside and outside views of the card that I made for this challenge! (You can click on each picture to get a closer look!)

Supplies: Stamps: Imaginisce (images) and Elzybells (sentiment), Ink (Stampin' Up Soft Suede), Cardstock: Stampin' Up!, Paper: Jillibean Soup, Other: Martha Stewart Border Punch, white opaque dimensional pen, ribbon.

I love these little gingerbread men! Last year, I hosted a cookie & recipe swap and my husband, Scott, signed up under a fake name so he could participate too! He made some delicious gingerbread cookies from scratch and I made frosted sugar cookies!

I definitely enjoy baking more than cooking, maybe that's because I have such a dominant sweet tooth! For Scott's birthday each year, I make his favorite, German Chocolate Cake, from scratch with a recipe I borrow from Betty Crocker. Since it's his favorite, I love putting in the extra effort to make sure he gets something special and delicious!

Thanks so much for taking the time to look at my card!

The Caardvarks design team has some beautiful examples to show you for this challenge! There's still time to enter, too! The contest runs until November 3.

CPS #189

I really enjoyed working with this week's Card Positioning Systems (CPS) sketch! This week's challenge is sponsored by Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps.

I changed the dimensions of the sketch to the size of a standard A2 card. I used paper from Cosmo Cricket's Pixielicious collection and some Bo Bunny Double Dot for my card.

The dog stamp is by Imaginisce, and was stamped in SU Chocolate Chip ink. The heart stamp is by Lawn Fawn. I drew my own thought bubble. The sentiment is by Pebbles.

Thanks so much for stopping by to look at my card!
You can check out the other entries and the design team's examples over at the CPS blog!

colourQ Challenge 55A & 55B

There's a two-in-one challenge this week over at the colourQ...two sets of colors to play with!

I had fun with both sets of colors and made these cards:

The first card is made using SU cardstock in Poppy Parade and Tangerine Tango. The dog stamp is by Imaginisce. The rub-on sentiment is by Pebbles and the heart stamp is from Lawn Fawn.

The second card is made using SU cardstock in the three pink challenge colors. I embossed strips of cardstock and cut them to make the blocks. The image and sentiment stamps are by Elzybells Art Stamps. I added some Prima Pearls to make "bubbles." I used Frosted Lace Stickles to make the bubble effect in the tub.

Thanks so much for taking time to look at my cards!
There's lots more to see at the colourQ...2X the inspiration & 2X the fun!

Get Sketchy #60

I'm not a big Halloween or Fall cardmaker, so I decided to move into more of a Christmas frame of mind with this week's Get Sketchy challenge! Here's the sketch:

and here's my card! I bought these papers last year at the Seattle CKC, but haven't used them yet! They're from My Mind's Eye's Colorful Christmas collection! The polar bear stamp is by Imaginisce...I thought it would pair well with these papers!

I stamped the bear in SU Chocolate Chip ink, and colored in its scarf with some colored pencils and markers. I accented the sentiment and the die-cut circle with Stickles.

Thanks for looking at my card!

You can check out the other entries and the design team's creations over at Get Sketchy! This week's challenge winner gets a Craft-N-Spin tool.

colourQ #54

My last card in this round of updates is for this week's colourQ challenge (#54)! This week, we've got some fun, spooky colors to play with!

I don't have any Concord Grape paper, so I used something close to what's in the display picture, and also a piece of Concord Crush to mat my sentiment:

The images and sentiment are from Lawn Fawn and the plaid paper is from Cosmo Cricket's Matilda collection. I embossed some strips of Old Olive and Basic Black, accenting them with silver ink. Everything was stamped in Basic Black. The pumpkin was colored with Copics, and the bat and spider are colored with permanent markers and pencils.

Thanks for stopping by to look at my card!
There's many more spooky treats for you to see over at the colourQ!

CPS #188

Here's another Halloween card, this time using a sketch from Card Positioning Systems (CPS). This week's challenge is sponsored by In Style Stamps!

I flipped the sketch for my card and used some cute candy corn stamps!

The candy corn stamp is by Studio G and the sentiment is from Lawn Fawn. The papers are from Cosmo Cricket's Matilda collection.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my card! Check out the examples and the other entries over at CPS!

Moxie Fab World: Languish in Luxurious Challenge

This week's Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab World is totally turquoise (or teal)...whatever you call it, it's terrific!

Here's my take:

I was inspired by the color combination and the simple elegance of the trigger photo.

After much deliberation and over-thinking, I went a simple route and came up with this card. I stamped a background with a damask stamp from Impress, embossed a strip of matching cardstock, added some paper flowers with opal gem centers, and stamped a sentiment from the SU "Occasional Quotes" set.

and Take 2:

I made the first card in this post late Wednesday night, and didn't upload it before I went to bed. After I posted it, it looked similar to the one above mine, so I came up with a second take on the challenge.

Honestly, I don't look at the other entries in a challenge before I make my card, because I don't want to be overly influenced by another person's idea...and it bothers me when that happens anyway. Oh well...

Anyway, thanks SO MUCH for stopping by to look at my cards!

Stampin' Celebration #24

Hey pumpkins! It's time for another Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge:

I used a pumpkin in this week's entry...this time with googly eyes!

The images and sentiment are by Lawn Fawn, and are stamped with SU Basic Black ink. The pumpkin is colored with Copics (I was lucky to be able to borrow some this past weekend from my buddy Sparkle), and the spider was done with colored pencils.

I embossed some cardstock, border punched the top and ran some silver ink across the embossing to bring out the details. The background paper is from Cosmo Cricket.

Be sure to check out all the spooky inspiration from the design team and the other entrants over at Stampin' Celebration!

Color Throwdown #114

This week's set of Color Throwdown challenge colors are fun...I used them to make a Christmas card!

The happy lights and sentiment are from Lawn Fawn! I pleated a strip of American Crafts paper for the border and used scraps of SU cardstock in the challenge colors to color in the bulbs. Everything is stamped in SU Chocolate Chip ink.

There's lots more over at the Color Throwdown! Check them out!

Get Sketchy #59

This week's Get Sketchy challenge is another fun one! This week's winner will get a gift certificate for 10 free digis at Tiffany Doodles!

Here's the sketch:

and here's my card!

I embossed a piece of SU Concord Crush cardstock for the background and punched some natural white cardstock for the border strips. The patterned paper is from Cosmo Cricket's Matilda collection, and the cute web and spider stamps are from Lawn Fawn stamps!

I colored the spider with some Copics and outlined the web with a dimensional glaze gel pen. I also used a stardust pen to accent the stars and to give them a little bit of glimmer!

Thanks for stopping by to look at my card!
There are lots more cute cards to check out over at Get Sketchy!
