CPS #169

I rotated this week's CPS sketch (#169) to make a masculine thank you card. It could also be used as a Father's Day card with the right sentiment inside.

Here's the CPS sketch:

and this is the card I made!

I used Bo Bunny's Mamarazzi collection and Paper Loft's Dude collection for this card. The screw brads are by Karen Foster, and the letter stickers are by October Afternoon and Cosmo Cricket.

Thank YOU for looking at my card!

Unscripted Sketches #57

For this week's Unscripted Sketches challenge, I had a hard time deciding what stamps to use, but I eventually picked two from Imaginisce's "Scooter's Vacation" collection.

Here's the latest Unscripted Sketch:

and this is my card!

I used papers from Sassafrass, Chocolate Chip and Soft Suede ink from Stampin' Up!, Tangerine chalk ink from Colorbox, cardstock from Core'dinations, ribbon from American Crafts, letter stickers by Making Memories, and Glaze pens to color in the stamped images.

Thanks for looking!

Get Sketchy #40

There's a double challenge with this week's Get Sketchy inspiration; to use the sketch below and to make a Father's Day card.

I used papers by Bo Bunny (Mamarazzi collection) and Paper Loft's Dude collection for my card. The stamp is from Crafty Secrets' "Favorite Fellas" collection. I stamped the shoe background in Chocolate Chip, then stamped the shoes again in Basic Black and popped them up with a foam square. I used Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type stickers for the sentiment.

Curtain Call - Act 31

This week's Curtain Call was a tough one for me; there were several pastels in the inspiration colors...and then I was stumped about how to incorporate the green and navy:

This is the card I finally came up with...

The patterned paper is from Pink Paislee, and the cardstock is from Stampin' Up. The suitcase stamp is by Imaginisce. The map background is Heidi Swapp tape that I found on clearance at Michael's. The letter stickers are from Making Memories.

Thanks for looking!

colourQ #34

For this week's colourQ, I used some more of my Crafty Secrets stamps to create my card. Here's the color inspiration:

I used the coffee cup stamps and the sentiment from Crafty Secrets' "Coffee & Tea" Art Stamps set. The patterned paper is from Pink Paislee and the cardstock is Stampin' Up and Core'dinations.

The ribbon is from Creative Impressions. I used Chocolate Chip and Brilliant Blue inks by Stampin' Up for my images and sentiment.

Thanks for looking!

Unscripted Sketches #56

For this week's Unscripted Sketches challenge, I used a cute new hostess stamp set (called "It's the Thought") from Stampin' Up! that's available in the Summer Mini catalog and some paper from Jillibean Soup that I love!

Here's the sketch:

I flipped the sketch for my card:

I also used a white gel pen to make the stitching accents. I also used some Glaze gel pens to color in the stamped images and accent the cherries on the patterned paper.

Thanks for looking!

Stampin' Royalty #21

This week's Stampin' Royalty challenge is all about color! Here's the inspiration:

and here's what I came up with for my card!

The cardstock is from Stampin' Up! (white, Rich Razzleberry, Certainly Celery and Pretty In Pink). The gift bag stamps are from the "Bitty Birthday" set, also by SU.

I originally stamped the bags on white cardstock, then on the three challenge colors. I cut out the bags and popped them up on foam squares. I cut the tissue paper parts out and swapped them as I glued them down on top of the white stamped image.

The ribbon is from Creative Impressions and is pleated with the help of some mini Glue Dots. The rhinestone is from Bo Bunny. I colored in the flowers with Sakura Glaze pens.

Thanks very much for looking!

Stampin' Celebration #4

I love Stampin' Celebration challenges...they are a little different than some of the other card blog challenges I work on! The inspiration pictures for each challenge have so many elements, which open up lots of possibilities to create an awesome card or project!

This is the latest challenge...there's cherries, kraft, gingham, reds, a little pop of yellow...and that's just what I noticed at first glance...I know there's got to be more hidden in the pictures that I didn't draw from!

This is the card that I made!

The stamps are from Crafty Secrets. I've had them for a while, but have never used them on a card before.
The cherry patterned paper is from October Afternoon and the red dot paper is from Graphic 45.
Instead of green gingham ribbon, I used blue because the scrap of green ribbon I had wasn't long enough!
The cherry brad is from Creative Imaginations and I added a white paper flower from Imaginisce with a little yellow button for the center.
The inks I used were Stampin' Up Soft Suede and Colorbox chalk ink.

Thanks for looking, this was another fun Stampin' Celebration challenge!

CPS #168

For CPS #168, I finally got to use some Paper Source stamps I picked up on clearance at the Bellevue Square store a few months ago. I think they've got lots of potential, but I didn't know how to start using them on my cards. When I saw this week's CPS sketch, I knew they'd be perfect!

First, here's the inspiration sketch:

and this is the card that I made with my stamps:

The patterned paper I used is from Basic Grey (June Bug and Wisteria collections). The gem stamps are from Paper Source. The cardstock and ink are from Stampin' Up (Rich Razzleberry, Perfect Plum, Basic Blue and Old Olive). To make the gems sparkle, I used a clear Stardust pen. I typed and printed the sentiment using the CK Wistful font.

Get Sketchy #39

I've been trying to use as many of my Stampin' Up stamps as possible for the card challenges that I regularly participate in. This is the first time I've used stamps from the "Eastern Influences" Set.

Here's the challenge sketch for Get Sketchy #39:

and here's the card that I made!

Supplies used:
Basic Grey patterned paper (Lily Kate and June Bug collections)
Colored Pencils
Ribbon
Cardstock (Stampin' Up)
Martha Stewart border punch
Ink (Stampin' Up and Colorbox)

Crate Paper Sketch Challenge

I recently sent in a card to Crate Paper's latest sketch challenge...I love their lines, especially the Pink Plum collection!

This is the sketch we worked with for the challenge:

and this is the card I made! I turned the sketch on its side and made a purse card. I wasn't the winner, but my card was one of the entries showcased on the Crate Paper blog.  (Click here if you'd like to see all of the beautiful entries that were featured!)

This is the inside; I made a pocket to enclose a gift card or other special note:

colourQ #33

This week's colourQ is a set of fun, bright summery colors. Since I live in the Pacific Northwest, I can always use a little more sunshine!

Since I substituted Old Olive for the Kiwi Kiss last week, I searched through my papers for something that matched a bit better...and this is what I came up with!

The cardstock is Bermuda Bay and Soft Suede from Stampin' Up!, the papers are from 3 Bugs in a Rug and Pink Paislee. The cardstock accent is from Melody Ross, and the die-cut flowers and leaves are from K & Company. The ribbon is from Martha Stewart and the adhesive pearls are from Prima.

Thanks for visiting & looking!

Stampin' Celebration Challenge #2

This is Stampin' Celebration's second weekly challenge, and it features bright colors and robots! It looked like fun, so I decided to play along! (Click here to visit them!)

Here's the inspiration:

and here's the card I made!

The robot and "boom box" stamps are from Imaginisce's Live Loud collection. The dotted paper is from American Crafts' Heat Wave, and the striped paper is from KI Memories. The letter stickers are from My Little Shoebox. I colored the stamped images with Sakura Glaze and Stardust pens. The cardstock is from Stampin' Up!

Act 30 - Stacey's Stamping Stage

This week's color combo at Stacey's Stamping Stage was a tough one! I'm sure you'll understand when you see the colors we played with!

And they are...

I didn't have trouble finding paper for the first four colors, but the pink had me stumped! I guess it's because of how the orange and black had me thinking of Halloween!

So, I came up with this card for my entry...

I used paper from Cosmo Cricket's Haunted collection (I guess I had to work that in somehow)!

Other supplies: Karen Foster gem brad, Prima e-Line pearls, Basic Black ink from Stampin' Up!, Border punch from Martha Stewart, ribbon, "Elegant Thank You" stamp from Stampin' Up!

I love these challenges because they get me making new things in colors I wouldn't normally put together!

Thanks for looking!

Unscripted Sketches #55

I love this paper from 3 Bugs in a Rug! I'm not sure if it's the colors, or the birds, or both, but it makes me happy!

Other supplies: Bazzill cardstock, Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type, jeweled and glitter brads, small white Bazzill paper flower. I made the larger part of the paper flower accent out of phone book pages.

To make the flower, I punched circles out of the phone book pages, folded them into fourths, then cut a curve on the top end. I unfolded the pieces, crumpled them a little, then stuck a brad through the center.

CPS #167

I turned the sketch for my card, and used a paper frame by K & Company to make the main element of the sketch. It was precut, so that helped out a lot!

The papers I used are from Basic Grey's Nook & Pantry collection, American Crafts' Letterbox collection and Cosmo Cricket's Material Girl collection. The buttons are also from Cosmo Cricket and are "sewn" with linen thread. I think the ribbon is from Creative Impressions, and the stamp is from Stampin' Up!'s Puns from the Past collection.

Thanks for looking!

Some Miscellaneous Cards...

Here are a couple of cards that I made recently:

This card is for my sister-in-law, who's having knee surgery in a few days.

Paper: Cosmo Cricket's Material Girl collection, Bo Bunny's Mamarazzi, kraft paper
Stamp: Fun & Fast Notes collection, Stampin' Up!
Flowers: K & Company
Other: Colorbox chalk ink, Stampin' Up Soft Suede ink, Glaze pens by Sakura, colored pencils

This is the Father's Day card that I made for my father-in-law.

Patterned paper: Bo Bunny's Mamarazzi collection, kraft paper
Stamps: Technique Tuesday
Brads: Karen Foster
Ribbon: American Crafts
Other: Glaze and Stardust pens by Sakura, ink in Basic Black from Stampin' Up!

Get Sketchy #38

Here's this week's Get Sketchy inspiration:

and here's the card I made for the challenge! The stamped images are from Stampin' Up's Dream Garden and Eastern Blooms sets. The rub-ons are from Cosmo Cricket, and the patterned paper is from Crate Paper.

Sassy Lil' Sketches: May

I can't seem to get enough of Crate Paper's Pink Plum collection! I used it for my Sassy Lil' Sketches card entry based on their May card sketch! (You can find the details here.)

This is my card! I used border stickers and papers from Crate Paper. The flowers are stamped in Stampin' Up's Melon Mambo ink on Cameo Coral Cardstock.

Thanks very much for looking!

colourQ #32

I really enjoyed working with the colors in this week's colourQ challenge! Here they are:

And this is the card I made! I love using this stamp; it's from Stampin' Up's "Very Thankful" set. I've used it on several different cards already. It goes well with the vintage-type papers.

I made the roses out of Cameo Coral cardstock, because I don't have any Groovy Guava on hand. I also substituted Old Olive for the Kiwi Kiss. I used Basic Black ink for the stamped image. The cardstock for the base is Bazzill. The patterned paper (and possibly the ribbon) is from Creative Imaginations.

Curtain Call Act #29

This week's Curtain Call over at Stacey's Stamping Stage was definitely a challenge for me, so I kept my card fairly simple!

Here's the color combo we worked with!

For my card, I used the "With All My Heart" set from Stampin' Up! The cardstock and ink are also from Stampin' Up! (Only Orange and Soft Suede).

Thanks for looking!

Unscripted Sketches #54

For this week's Unscripted Sketches challenge, I used Crate Paper's Brook collection with the following sketch:

This is my card. It's not a combination of colors that I use a lot, but I think it's a nice, cheery card that would go well with a thank-you gift.

The gift bag stamp is from Stampin' Up's Bitty Birthday collection. Other supplies that I used: gold American Crafts gel pen, sticker sentiment, Chocolate Chip ink and cardstock from Stampin' Up!, ribbon, staples.

Thanks for looking!

CPS #166

I really love the card that I made this week for Card Positioning Systems (CPS)! :)

Here's the sketch we worked with (you can find the other entries here):

And here's the card that I made...I used Crate Paper's Plum Blossom collection, and stamps from Stampin' Up's Dream Garden set.

I carried the design over to the inside of the card:

Get Sketchy #37

For this week's Get Sketchy challenge, (click the link for details) I used some of American Crafts' Letterbox collection to make a birthday card out of this sketch:

Here's my card:

I changed the sketch a little; I moved the row of accents to the bottom of the card, instead of near the top. Otherwise, I kept the basic elements of the card the same.

The stamp is from Stampin' Up's Bitty Birthday set. I used American Crafts Purkey Mini Marks rub-ons for the sentiment lettering. I cut out pennant shapes, put an eyelet in each piece, and used linen thread to link the pieces together. I used the same linen thread to tie through the buttons, which are also from American Crafts.
