Sassy Lil' Sketches - April 14th card sketch

This is my first entry for a Sassy Lil' Sketches challenge, and I based my card on their April 14th card sketch:

My card uses mini Jenni Bowlin papers and also a piece of paper from Prima's Blooming Retro collection, Creative Impressions ribbon, Making Memories button brads, and two stamps from Stampin' Up!'s "Dreams du Jour" stamp set. I originally tried to color in the stamped image, but decided that I liked it better without the extra color, so I stamped another and glued it on top of the colored one.

CPS #164

Here's this week's sketch over at Card Positioning Systems (CPS):

I didn't change much on this sketch when I made my card. I made a mini-card envelope for the front that would be the perfect size to enclose a gift card. However, the only gift-card I had was an old Reward Zone card...hope it's enough to get the idea across!

The papers I used are from Prima's Blooming Retro line. The sentiment rub-on is from KaiserCraft. I'm not sure where the flower, brad and ribbon are from other than from my supply stash!

Stampin' Royalty #16

This is my first entry for a Stampin' Royalty challenge, and this week it was a sketch challenge:

I flipped the sketch, and kept my card fairly simple:

I've been playing around with my Stampin' Up! starter kit stamps, and I decided to use this stamp from the "Fun & Fast Notes" set. I Stickled the cake stands, and popped up the cakes with a foam square underneath each one. I accented the die-cut shape with my Stardust pen, which is also what I used to color in the trim on the cakes.

My supplies:

Cardstock: Core'dinations Gemstones & Bazzill
Patterned paper: Cosmo Cricket (Material Girl mini paper)
Brad: Karen Foster
Stamp & Ink: Stampin' Up! (Fun & Fast Notes/Chocolate Chip ink)
Pen: Sakura
Ribbon: ??

As always, thanks for looking!

Get Sketchy #35 - Fan-tastic!

Here's the sketch for the latest Get Sketchy challenge:

And here's my card!

I've been playing with making my own flower embellishments lately, particularly with fan folding paper.

The half-circle shape for this week's challenge made me think of a Chinese or Japanese fan, so I decided to make that the theme of this card.

I folded a 2" x 12" strip of paper and made it into a fan for the left side of the card. I punched a 1" circle to glue to the back of the fan to keep it in place. I glued a large glitter brad to the center of the fan accent.  To continue the Asian theme, I used the other side of the paper for my card background, and stamped fans as a pattern on the paper.

Then, I typed and printed the sentiment, and mounted it onto cardstock.

I threaded a Chinese coin charm with twine and stapled it to the front of the card. The inside of the card reads "Congratulations" in the same typeface and mounting as what's on the front.

Thanks for looking! Here's my supply list:

Cardstock: Bazzill
Patterned paper: Prima (from the Tea & Silk collection)
Glitter brad: Imaginisce
Clear stamp: aMuse
Ink: Stampin' Up!
Other: Chinese coin charm, twine, staples

I didn't notice until after I made the card that one of the design team ladies had also used a fan-type accent on her card...but I think our ideas and color choices are different enough!

ColourQ 29

This week's ColourQ was definitely a challenge for me! It was easy finding the paper I wanted to use for this one, but I had the hardest time deciding how much was enough to put on the card. I kept thinking the card needed just one more thing, but when I tried my different ideas, the original seemed to be just fine.

Here is the inspiration for the challenge:

And here is my card!

The colors made me think of citrus fruits, so I picked this paper from KI Memories. I used some Creative Impressions ribbon to accent the custom brad that I made with my i-Top. I chose "get well wishes" from my Stampin' Up collection...Seeing all the slices of orange, lemon and lime got me thinking of Vitamin C, and that led to a get well card.

Get Sketchy #34 - Good Chemistry

For this week's Get Sketchy challenge, I designed my card a little bit "outside the sketch." Here's the sketch we were given:

I looked at the white space between the hearts, and it reminded me of a flask or beaker, so I came up with this design. The flask is adhered to one side of the card.

I also punched holes, inserted some vellum between the patterned paper and the cardstock to look like bubbles:

It's a gate-fold card with this sentiment on the inside:

Patterned paper: Bazzill, Cosmo Cricket (Chemistry collection)
Glitter glue: Stickles (Ranger)
Heart punch: EK Success/Martha Stewart
Letter stickers: Making Memories & Cosmo Cricket
Other: Vellum, twine

Thanks very much for looking!

Clean & Simple Stamping - FTL 86

This is my first entry to a Clean & Simple Stamping challenge. This week's challenge is based on FTL (Fall-to Layout) 86, which is:

and here's my card!

Instead of doing a horizontal card, I did a vertical one, but kept the elements in basically the same position.

Paper/Cardstock: Bazzill
Stamps/Ink: Stampin' Up!
Ribbon: Michaels
Rub-ons: Doodlebug
Border Punch: EK Success/Martha Stewart

Thanks for looking! This was a fun challenge!

CPS 163

Here's the sketch for this week's Card Positioning Systems challenge (#163):

and here's my card...

Cardstock: Bazzill
Patterned Paper: Pink Paislee
Stamps: aMuse
Ink: Stampin' Up!
Glitter glue: Stickles (Ranger)
Pen: Sakura
Flower: Prima

I love this stamp set, and I've also been wanting to use the Pink Paislee mini-papers in a card. It's the first time I've used a Sakura Glaze pen to do some embossing on a card. I used two layers of ink to emboss the chopsticks.

Bo Bunny Card Challenge - April

I've been looking forward to using Bo Bunny's Sophie line in a card challenge or other project, and today I got that chance!

The latest challenge on the Bo Bunny blog is to make a card using this sketch as inspiration:

This is the card that I made. The papers are all from Bo Bunny's Sophie collection, except for the white cardstock. I stamped an image on a few of the scraps, cut them out and pieced them to complete the design. The gem is from Buttons & Bling...I just recolored it with a permanent marker to match the card.

Thanks for stopping by!

colourQ #28

This is the inspiration for the latest colourQ challenge (#28):

The colors made me think of Imaginisce's Twitterpated collection, which I used to make my card:

Cardstock, stamped image and chalks: Stampin' Up!
Patterned Paper, Brad & Rub-on accents: Imaginisce
Border punch: Fiskars
Ribbon: May Arts

I'm very pleased with how my card came out! Thanks very much for stopping by!

Update: I was one of the spotlighted designers in last week's colourQ contest (#27)! Congratulations to Rochelle, who was last week's winner and colourQueen! She made a very cute owl card, which you can see here along with the other entries and spotlighted designers.

Gems: Queen & Co.
Other: Colorbox ink, Glossy Accents, Felt flower w/gem

and the inside:

Moxie Fab World's Go-To Sketches Week Challenge!

To celebrate the release of Paper Crafts' special issue, Go-To Sketches, Moxie Fab World is hosting a contest, where you use this sketch as inspiration:

This is the card I made with one of my favorite paper lines, Basic Grey's Kioshi.

All of the patterned paper is from the Kioshi line. The cardstock used to make the card base, the fortune cookie and the fortune/sentiment, is from Bazzill. I used purple Stickles to make the dots that connect the cookie to the fortune.

The fortune cookie stamp and sentiment are from aMuse.

ColourQ Challenge #27

The latest ColourQ challenge is based on the following photo & colors:

The challenge is to focus on the colors given when you make your card...this is what I came up with!

Papers: Paper Loft, Jenni Bowlin, Little Yellow Bicycle
Stamps: Crafty Secrets
Ink: Colorbox, aMuse
Corner embellishments: K & Company
Border Punch: EK Success
Letter Stickers: Cosmo Cricket
*I also used foam squares to "pop up" the ties.

Caardvarks Challenge - Baby Card

I love doing card challenges, and I was happy to find another challenge blog to submit my work to! This week's Caardvarks challenge is to create a baby card. It was a challenge for me, but I'm very pleased with the result.

This is also the first picture I've taken using my new lightbox, which I made by following a Web tutorial.

The patterned paper is from Basic Grey's Kioshi line. The button brads are from Making Memories and the letter stickers are from Cosmo Cricket.

I made the rattle out of cardstock by paper piecing each section.
I border punched the blue strip that goes across the middle and tied a piece of Martha Stewart ribbon across the rattle's handle.

CPS #161

Here's the sketch for this week's Card Positioning Systems challenge:

And here's my card, made with papers and elements from Basic Grey's Green at Heart Collection (I used Kelly and Kermit) and I rotated the sketch for my card.

The card base is Bazzill Swiss Dot cardstock in Celtic Green. I recolored a metallic brad with a Bic Mark-It to match the color scheme of my card. I also used a Bloomer (fabric flower) and cardstock elements from the same Basic Grey collection.

Get Sketchy Challenge #32

Here's the sketch for this week's Get Sketchy Challenge:

And here's my card!

The paper I used is from Basic Grey's Kioshi line (Camelia for the background, sticker elements for the butterflies, leaves and circle border, and a bloomer for the flower.)

I added the antennae and stitching on the butterflies with a Staedler pen. I also used "Kermit" from Basic Grey's Green at Heart line for the pink circle in the middle.

The card base is Kraft cardstock from Bazzill. I'm not sure what brand the sentiment sticker is; it was a freebie included with a special edition of Paper Crafts magazine.
